I bought Jess from Lorne Smith in Kerrobert, Saskatchewan in February 2001 as a 14-month-old pup.
She is out of Lorne's Jet (Kit), out of Dale Montgomery's breeding and Peter Gonnet's great Moss CABC 110231, the 2003 Canadian Open Champion out of his wife Pam's Jet and Lee Sexton's Ben. All Saskatchewan dogs and all bred to work.
At the time I bought Jess, Nancy and I already owned her full litter sister; Jenn, CBCA 1554 and we just loved her enthusiasm and stock sense along with great speed. I bought her sight unseen but I really wasn't taking any chance or risk buying her, as I knew the line and I wanted a brood bitch that I could possibly work on both cattle and sheep.
Jess is a strong, willing and eager bitch, quite pushy but great around kids and people. She absolutely adores kids. She lives to work.
I bred Jess to Del'mar Turk shortly after I got her and we had a litter of 5 pups. 2 females and 3 males.
Two of the males have gone to a working home in Saskatchewan, one female to a trialing home at the lower mainland of BC and one to Vancouver Island working cattle.
I kept RMS Pat, CBCA 2192, born June 24, 2002. He is now 16 months and coming along nicely on sheep. He is very strong but quite biddable with nice wide flanks and excellent balance. I will be trying him on cattle soon and may attend some cattle trials this winter in BC.
Jess has been progressing very well in her trialing having to move in to the Open class next year. She has developed in to more dog than I could have hoped for and is a joy to work with. Keep an eye on her.
We will be breeding Jess to Del'mar Turk on her next cycle, probably in November/December sometime.
